One of the most important accessories is a laptop cushion. The more work you do one your laptop, the hotter it gets, so you want to be sure to separate the laptop from your lap, which is what the cushion would provide, and the cushion also lets your vents cool off your laptop. You would have no idea what a difference this makes unless you used one yourself, and it's well worth getting and probably the first thing I would recommend.
With a laptop cushion, it's not only beneficial for you. It prevents overheating by improving ventilation. When your laptop isn't overheating, it has a cool hard drive which expands the life of your laptop and the longevity. This prevents many of the slow performance issues that may have plagued laptops you have owned in the past. The less you can leave it in a heated state, the longer it should last over time.
High impact drops, unexpected moisture, scratches, cracked screens, and extra dirt and dust, are a few other things you want to avoid with your laptop. You can do this by purchasing a laptop sleeve or carrying case. This will help protect your laptop and prevent knocking around the insides of the laptop, loosening its parts.
Also avoid dropping or putting your laptop on hard surfaces, as this could lead to unnecessary wear and tear.
If touchpads bother you because they are uncomfortable or freeze, go with a wireless mouse. They are reliable and most likely feel familiar to you.
For all you audio lovers out there, I'd suggest high quality headphones. Laptop speakers are poor quality and sometimes bust, while high quality headphones take off pressure on your ears and give you excellent quality.
And the best part about having high quality headphones, you can listen to audio even in a room full of people without annoying them! Just plug them into your laptop, and listen away!
